Game 1 V Dunloy 2, 10-9 win,
A tough opening game against the host club in their familiar surroundings. The Stinsons found it hard to get started in the first half and were struggling to take their scores. As more scores are given for clean catches in this form of the game than goals or points both sides were going the hard way to get scores. Some good defending was done by Gary and Loughlin to keep the Dunloy boys out. It was a score for score match with some great goals and points scored by Seanchan (2-2), Paddy (2-1) and Caelan (0-3). Martin came on for Peter and put in a good display in mid field. The Stinsons held out well for a 1 point win.
Game 2 V Glenavy, 15-10 win,
This was a more settled game for the boys who were playing a physically strong Glenavy side who were well up for the encounter. During the first half it was a score for score game with good goals coming again from Paddy (6-1) and some great points from Seanchan (0-6). There was good defensive work carried out by S and Shane on the full back line. There was good mid field support given by Fintan who matched the Glenavy boys during the tackles. During the second half the Cloney boys pulled away from Glenavy with some fine points from Caelan (0-2) and Seanchan.
Game 3 V Ballycastle 2, 17-4 win,
This was another fine display by the Sean Stinsons lads who got of to a great start against the McQuillans with early goals from Seanchan (5-1) and points from Paddy (2-2). The Stinsons also again defended well by Peter and Gary who put in some great tackles and blocks. The was some good catch scores by Gary (0-4) and Peter (0-2). Loughlin (0-1)also got onto the score sheet with a fine point.
Game 4 V Loughgiel 2, 9-28 defeat,
This was the only defeat of the group stages but it was a heavy defeat by a very strong Shamrocks side to played the Airborne form of the game to its limit by gaining a lot of scores from clean long range catches and rebounded points. The Stinsons battled hard but were finding it hard to come back after Loughgiel had a clear lead. The Cloney boys could only manage single scores but got sum nice goals and points from Seanchan (2-2), Paddy (1-3) and Gary (0-1).
Game 5 V Cushendall 2, 20-18 win,
The boys licked their wounds from the Loughgiel game and came out all guns blazing for the final game of the group stages. The got of to a steady start with some good points by Paddy (0-10) and a goal by Seanchan (2-2) but most of the scores in the first half were taken by the Ruairi óg's who stormed to a 10-6 lead at half time. Conor had a great game in goals and made some great saves. Gary (0-4) had a good game in defence and scored with some fine long range catches. The Stinsons lads gave it one final push in the second half with more points from Paddy, Caelan (0-2) and an other goal from Seanchan.
With 4 wins out of 5 it was enough to put the lads though to the div 3 final where they will meet Cushendall again. They will have to play to the same level or more if they are to be able to beat Cushendall again who will be looking for revenge. This has been a very good outing for these lads bearing in mind that there will not be a proper out door U14 team this year due to the low number of players in this age group this season.
