U12 Hurlers Win North Antrim Div 2 Indoor Final

Sean Stinson's 27: Glenarm 23

Congratulations to the U12 hurlers who overcame Shane O'Neill's of Glenarm to lift the North Antrim Division 2 Airborne hurling final. This was an 8 aside indoor league competition held in Dunloy's indoor 3G complex.

The Stinsons had played Glenarm in the league stages of this competition and had suffered a heavy 12-3 defeat. Pride was now at stake and the lads were not going to let Glenarm have it all their way in the final. In the end it took two periods of extra time to separate the two teams.

From the throw in both teams played some great hurling with end to end action and some great scores from both sides. The defending and blocking from Harry and Aidan kept the Stinsons within reach of Glenarm. There was some nice points from Sean and Patrick for the Stinsons and at the end of the first half of normal time Glenarm just edged in front by 1 point.

As the second half got underway there was more scores added to the board by Conor and Colla to keep the game on level pegging. Glenarm then started to pull away with a 3 point lead and appeared to be getting the run of play. There was still plenty of fight left in the Cloney boys with some great saves in goal by Luke and strong tackling by Conor and Sean at mid field. Shea and John battled hard in attack. As full time approached a draw was looking like a fair result at 11 points each.

Extra time of 3 minutes each way was called for by James McLean the Dunloy referee.

The first 3 minute period of extra time was controlled by Shane O'Neill's who went into a 15-13 lead despite some great blocking and hooking by Harry and Patrick for the Stinsons. The second 3 minute period got of to a better start for the Stinsons who quickly turned the game around with some good scores by Sean and Conor. The Stinsons also marked the Glenarm boys well with Michael, Shea and Aidan not giving their men an inch. As the extra time came to a finish Sean Stinsons got a well earned draw with a 2 point catch by young Aidan, with the score finishing 17-17.

The decision was made again by James McLean to go for another period of extra time of 2 minutes each way.

The game stayed Patek Philippe Replica Watches at a fast pace with both teams not wanting to make any fatal mistakes at a critical time of the game. Scores were again traded between the two teams with the Stinsons eventually pulling away with an 25 -20 lead going into the second half of the second period of extra time. This 5 point lead was held well in the second 2 minute period of extra time with some great saves and puck outs by Luke in goals and Harry in defence. Colla added another score up front as full time approached. The lads gave all they had and held out for a well deserved 27-23 win.
