Regular TV viewers will have been shocked to see a story on Clooney Gaels as the first news item broadcast on the TG4 Nuacht bulletin!
The club were contacted on Friday to arrange for the TV cameras to come to Fr. McGuigan Park to take some footage of some of the juvenile hurlers and camógs.
Why Clooney Gaels?...well may you ask!
The coverage has been the result of an ongoing disagreement within Ballymena Borough Council about a grant application to assist with the cost of sports equipment - in this case new hurls.
Several objecting councillors are refusing to give the go-ahead for this small grant quoting the GAA rule which states that the equipment used must be made in Ireland is prejudiced against British companies.
This was reported firstly in the local papers, and then picked up by the Irish News, before coming to the attention of the TV media, and indeed the broadcast was also shown on RTÉ's Nuacht bulletin the same evening.
We all wait with interest to see how this issue will come to a resolution!
