CLOONEY GAELS ENTER AN INAUGURAL ALL EUROPEAN HURLING COMPETITION 17 January 2005

Clooney Gaels have entered a pre-season hurling competition with a difference.

A panel of twenty players are flying to Barcelona on Thursday 3rd February 2005 to participate in this inaugural European Hurling competition, a competition primarily arranged by Barcelona Gaels to promote Gaelic games in their beautiful city.

Competition participants include

  • St. Endas Belfast

  • Civil Service hurling club Island bridge Dublin, and

  • Barcelona Gaels

  • The 11-a- side competition gets underway on Saturday 5th February at the La Marbella Rugby grounds in Barcelona and will be played on a round robin basis. The eventual winners will be awarded the prestigious honor of being the first team to win an all-European hurling competition, open to all hurling teams in Ireland, England and the European Continent.

This event is an ideal chance for Clooney Gaels to get away on an adventure to build team moral, make new friends and most importantly, play and enjoy a bit of pre-season hurling.

Photographs and match reports will follow.

Don't forget to organise your E111 forms (health insurance) for the trip to Barcelona. There may be a chance you may get injured, so make sure you sort this out yourself.
